For all its pleasures of sight, feel, and sound, a natural water feature is also the one element that will attract the most wildlife into a garden. As if by magic, the spinners, whirligigs, damselflies, and dragonflies appear as soon as a small pool of water is in place. If the water moves—sprays, trickles, splashes—singly and in flocks the birds arrive.
